HSE Dublin and South East is recruiting Healthcare Assistants (Home Support) to support people in their own homes across Carlow, Kilkenny, South Tipperary, Waterford and Wexford. Role Overview
As a Healthcare Assistant (Home Support), you will provide practical personal care and assistance to service users in their homes, promoting dignity, independence and wellbeing. Successful candidates will become part of a regional panel from which current and future permanent and specified purpose vacancies may be filled across HSE Dublin and South East.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care and assistance to service users in their own homes.
- Support individuals to maintain independence and quality of life.
- Assist with daily living activities in accordance with individual care plans.
- Observe and report changes in a service user’s condition to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate records and comply with HSE policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, families and carers.
- Travel between service users’ homes as required.
Requirements
- Experience in a caring role in either an informal or formal care setting.
- A full driving licence.
- Sufficient IT skills to carry out the requirements of the role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A caring, respectful and professional approach to supporting service users.
Salary
€36,651 – €45,939 per annum (HSE Healthcare Assistant (Home Support) Grade 6494, 9-point scale, plus LSIs where applicable). Salary is paid on a pro-rata basis for part-time appointments. Based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}

Posts are available throughout HSE Dublin and South East, including Carlow, Kilkenny, South Tipperary, Waterford and Wexford. There are currently a number of permanent whole-time and part-time vacancies in Carlow, Kilkenny and South Tipperary. A supplementary panel will also be created to fill future permanent and specified purpose vacancies across the region.
