St. John of God Community Services is seeking to recruit a Maintenance Craftsperson for a permanent, full-time position based at Lucena Clinic in Rathgar, Co. Dublin. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional to join a multidisciplinary mental health service, helping to ensure the safe, efficient and well-maintained operation of healthcare facilities that support patients, visitors and staff.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will become part of the Facilities team responsible for maintaining the clinic’s buildings, grounds and essential services. The role requires a practical individual with broad maintenance experience, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently while responding efficiently to maintenance requests across the site.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across the Lucena Clinic site.
- Undertake general repairs to buildings, fixtures and equipment.
- Perform maintenance across plumbing, heating, electrical, carpentry, painting and decorating disciplines.
- Complete repairs including replacing light bulbs, adjusting doors, repairing locks, fixing walls and repairing furniture.
- Maintain external grounds and support site upkeep.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from departments.
- Work safely in accordance with health and safety legislation and Safe Pass requirements.
- Identify maintenance issues proactively and recommend practical solutions.
- Assist in maintaining a safe environment for service users, visitors and staff.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues while meeting operational deadlines.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A minimum of five years’ current experience in a similar maintenance role.
- A recognised, relevant and validated City & Guilds qualification.
- Valid Safe Pass certification.
- Strong knowledge of general building maintenance disciplines.
- Practical experience in plumbing, heating, electrical work, fitting, carpentry, painting, decorating and ground works.
- Ability to carry out a wide range of repair and maintenance tasks independently.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritise work and perform effectively under pressure.
- A full clean driving licence is essential.
- A flexible, reliable and committed approach to work.
Salary
€42,486 – €48,853 per annum (HSE-aligned Maintenance Craftsman/Technician Grade 5606 salary scale, effective 1 June 2026, plus Long Service Increments where applicable). As St. John of God Community Services is a Section 38 organisation, remuneration is aligned with approved HSE consolidated salary scales.
