St. Michael’s House is recruiting a qualified Social Care Worker to join its Day and Residential Services across Dublin. This permanent whole-time opportunity offers an excellent career with one of Ireland’s leading providers of services for people with intellectual disabilities. Working within HSE Dublin and North East as a Section 38 organisation, you will play an important role in supporting individuals to achieve greater independence, inclusion, and quality of life.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will provide person-centred care and support to adults with intellectual disabilities within residential and day service settings. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues, families, and advocates to promote independence, dignity, community participation, and positive outcomes for the people supported by St. Michael’s House.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to high-quality disability services while developing professionally within an established organisation committed to best practice, safeguarding, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, person-centred social care in accordance with individual support plans.
  • Support individuals in achieving personal goals and maximising independence.
  • Promote community inclusion, social participation, and meaningful daily activities.
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive living or day service environment.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, families, and external agencies.
  • Support service users with personal care where required while maintaining dignity and respect.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, care records, and reports in line with organisational policies.
  • Follow HIQA standards, safeguarding procedures, and all relevant legislation.
  • Participate in shift work, team meetings, supervision, and ongoing professional development.
  • Contribute positively to continuous service improvement and quality initiatives.

Requirements

  • A recognised qualification suitable for the Social Care Worker grade.
  • Eligibility to work as a qualified Social Care Worker in Ireland.
  • Experience supporting people with intellectual disabilities is desirable.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to person-centred practice, safeguarding, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Flexibility to work across day and residential services as required.
  • A full driving licence may be advantageous depending on service requirements.

Salary

€41,260 – €57,789 per annum (HSE Social Care Worker (With Qualification) salary scale, 12-point scale, plus one Long Service Increment (LSI) where applicable). As St. Michael’s House is a Section 38 organisation, this role follows HSE-aligned pay scales based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026.

Location

This position is based within St. Michael’s House Day and Residential Services across Dublin, operating within the HSE Dublin and North East health region. Successful candidates will work in services supporting people with intellectual disabilities in community-based environments that promote independence, inclusion, and person-centred care.
