The Health Service Executive (HSE) is Ireland’s national health service, delivering quality healthcare services to improve the health and wellbeing of people across Ireland. We are seeking exceptional leaders to join us as Regional Directors for Health & Social Care Professions across six health regions. This is a permanent senior management position offering the opportunity to lead strategic healthcare delivery at regional level.
About the Role
As Regional Director Health & Social Care Professions, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight of health and social care professional services across your designated region. This National Director – Assistant (Services) grade position requires an experienced healthcare leader to drive service delivery, manage multidisciplinary teams, and ensure the highest standards of patient care across diverse healthcare settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Lead the development and implementation of regional health and social care professional services strategy aligned with national HSE objectives
- Service Management: Oversee the delivery of comprehensive health and social care professional services across all service areas within your region
- Team Leadership: Manage and develop large multidisciplinary teams of healthcare professionals, ensuring optimal performance and professional development
- Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with national standards, regulations, and best practices across all health and social care professional services
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, community partners, and professional bodies
- Resource Management: Effectively manage budgets, resources, and infrastructure to maximize service delivery efficiency and outcomes
- Performance Monitoring: Implement robust performance management systems and quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient outcomes
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Education: Relevant third-level qualification in health, social care, or related professional field
- Experience: Extensive senior management experience in health and social care professional services, preferably at regional or national level
- Leadership: Proven track record of leading large, complex organizations and multidisciplinary teams
- Healthcare Knowledge: Deep understanding of Irish healthcare system, HSE structures, and health and social care professional services
- Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare regulations, professional standards, and quality frameworks
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Qualification: Master’s degree or higher in healthcare management, public administration, or related field
- HSE Experience: Previous experience working within HSE or Irish public health sector
- Change Management: Demonstrated experience in leading organizational change and transformation initiatives
- Professional Registration: Current registration with relevant professional body where applicable
