Academic Systems Specialist – Academic Systems Integration Project (Grade VI) – Sligo | Atlantic Technological University

Atlantic Technological University (ATU) invites applications for a confined competition for the post of Academic Systems Specialist (Grade VI) to support the Academic Systems Integration Project at the ATU Sligo Campus. This fixed-term role, reporting to the Project Manager, is central to data migration, validation, and system integration between ATU and the BANNER Student Record System.

About the Role

The Academic Systems Specialist will play a key role in preparing, migrating, and validating academic data within ATU’s enterprise systems. The successful candidate will work across academic and technical teams, focusing on business process analysis and the integration of external systems with BANNER.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager in the integration of the Banner™ Student Record System as part of the ATU MIS Integration Project.
  • Liaise with EduCampus to ensure Banner integrations meet ATU’s QA standards.
  • Collaborate with IT Services on DXC requirements and external BANNER interfaces.
  • Coordinate with ATU partner colleges on business process alignment and data standardisation.
  • Support the development of ATU-wide data definitions and reporting structures.
  • Provide administrative and analytical support for procurement, contracts, and tenders related to academic information systems.
  • Deliver status reports, documentation, and training support as required.
  • Undertake additional project-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Essential

  • Minimum Grade D3 in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • At least two years’ service in a Grade III post (or higher) within the Education & Training Sector.
  • Proven ability to deliver accurate, high-quality work under minimal supervision.
  • Competence in data analysis, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication.

Desirable

  • Strong administrative experience in a public sector, higher education, or project-based environment.
  • Advanced IT proficiency, including database and management information systems.
  • Familiarity with Banner SRMS and other academic systems.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Previous experience in a project team environment.

What We Offer

  • Grade VI Salary Scale (as of 1 Aug 2025): €57,324 – €70,033 per annum, per Department of Health Circular 6/2025.
  • Specified Purpose Contract up to 30th June 2026.
  • 35-hour work week, based at ATU Sligo Campus.
