HSE Dublin and North East is seeking a dedicated Advanced Nurse Practitioner or Candidate Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) team in Louth. This permanent wholetime position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact in specialized mental health care for young people.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced mental health professional to work within our CAMHS unit, providing advanced nursing practice in child and adolescent mental health services. This role involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive mental health assessment, intervention, and support services to children, adolescents, and their families across Louth and surrounding areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive mental health assessments for children and adolescents presenting with various mental health conditions and complex needs
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary CAMHS team including psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers
- Provide advanced clinical interventions including therapeutic counselling, crisis intervention, and specialized mental health treatments for young people
- Coordinate care pathways between primary care, secondary care, and community mental health services to ensure seamless patient transitions
- Mentor and supervise junior nursing staff and student nurses within the CAMHS setting, promoting best practice in child and adolescent mental health
- Participate in case conferences and clinical reviews to ensure comprehensive care planning and risk management for vulnerable young people
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to service development initiatives within CAMHS to improve patient outcomes and service delivery
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Registration with NMBI (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland) as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse
- Post-graduate qualification in Advanced Nursing Practice or Mental Health Nursing at Masters level or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years clinical experience in mental health nursing with at least 2 years experience in child and adolescent mental health services
- Evidence of advanced clinical competencies in mental health assessment, therapeutic interventions, and crisis management with young people
- Current professional development including evidence of continuing education in CAMHS practice and child protection
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional post-graduate qualifications in child and adolescent mental health, family therapy, or related specialties
- Experience in advanced practice roles including autonomous decision-making, prescribing rights, or clinical leadership positions
- Research or quality improvement experience within mental health services or CAMHS specifically
- Training in specialized therapeutic approaches such as CBT, DBT, or trauma-informed care for young people
