HSE Dublin and Midlands is seeking a dedicated Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our Emergency Minor Injuries unit at Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise. This is a permanent full-time opportunity to provide specialist emergency care in a dynamic healthcare environment.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner to deliver high-quality emergency care in our Minor Injuries Emergency Department at Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise. This permanent position offers the opportunity to work autonomously in emergency minor injury assessment, treatment, and management while contributing to our comprehensive emergency care services in County Laois.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with minor injuries in the Emergency Department setting
- Prescribe medicinal products as an appropriately qualified nurse prescriber following completion of required training
- Provide autonomous clinical decision-making for emergency minor injury cases within scope of practice
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary emergency department teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records in compliance with HSE standards
- Mentor and support nursing staff within the Emergency Department minor injuries unit
- Participate in continuous professional development and evidence-based practice initiatives
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Registration as a Nurse with NMBI (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland)
- Advanced Nurse Practitioner qualification or eligibility for ANP registration
- Demonstrated broad-based experience and expertise in Minor Injuries Emergency Department care
- Commitment to complete Nurse Prescribing of Medicinal Products course within 1 year of employment (if not already completed)
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills in emergency minor injury management
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous ANP experience in emergency or acute care settings
- Completed Nurse Prescribing qualification at time of application
- Experience in emergency department protocols and minor injury pathways
- Additional emergency care certifications (ALS, PALS, etc.)
