About the Role
The Candidate Advanced Nurse Practitioner – Gastroenterology will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care. This post is designed to support nurses undertaking their ANP pathway, providing mentorship, advanced education, and structured progression toward full ANP registration.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients within the Gastroenterology service.
- Collaborate closely with consultant gastroenterologists, nursing, and allied health professionals.
- Contribute to the development of clinical pathways, evidence-based practice, and service innovation.
- Participate in patient education and health promotion initiatives.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to audit and quality improvement.
- Support teaching, mentoring, and supervision of nursing and multidisciplinary colleagues.
- Adhere to HSE governance, professional, and ethical standards.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Registered general nurse with An Bord Altranais / NMBI.
- Evidence of progression on the Advanced Nurse Practitioner (Candidate) pathway in Gastroenterology or related specialty.
- Minimum of five years post-registration experience, including significant clinical exposure in gastroenterology or medical nursing.
- Strong clinical decision-making, leadership, and communication skills.
Preferred
- Postgraduate qualification in Gastroenterology Nursing, Advanced Practice, or related area.
- Experience in endoscopy or specialist outpatient services.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development.
