The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking applications for the position of Candidate Advanced Practice Radiographer (Grade Code 3086) at the Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise, County Laois. This is a permanent whole-time role within the HSE Dublin and Midlands Health Region, covering Longford, Westmeath, Offaly, Laois, Kildare, and parts of South Dublin and Wicklow.
This opportunity allows radiographers to develop and demonstrate advanced clinical and professional competencies under the HSE Advanced Practice Framework (2023). The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering safe, evidence-based diagnostic imaging services and contribute to leadership, education, and research initiatives within the department.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality diagnostic imaging services with advanced clinical decision-making and accountability.
- Engage in structured development across the four pillars of advanced practice:
- Clinical Practice
- Leadership and Management
- Education and Facilitation of Clinical Learning
- Evidence, Research, and Development
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient care pathways.
- Promote and participate in audit, quality improvement, and clinical governance initiatives.
- Support and facilitate the learning and professional growth of junior radiographers and students.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Be registered on the Radiographers Division of the Radiographers Registration Board at CORU.
- Demonstrate a proven commitment to advanced practice and continuous professional development.
- Provide evidence of engagement in learning to support competency development as outlined in the HSCP Advanced Practice Framework (2023).
- Exhibit leadership, communication, and analytical skills aligned with HSE values and patient-centred care.

- Salary Scale (effective 1 August 2025): €70,725 – €79,872 per annum (incremental progression)
