About the Role
This Staff Grade Cardiac Physiologist position offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic cardiology team at Wexford General Hospital, providing essential diagnostic services to patients with cardiovascular conditions. You will be responsible for conducting sophisticated cardiac investigations and working closely with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care in our modern cardiac diagnostic facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive cardiac diagnostic procedures including ECGs, echocardiograms, stress testing, and ambulatory monitoring
- Operate and maintain advanced cardiac diagnostic equipment ensuring optimal performance and accurate test results
- Collaborate with cardiologists and medical teams to provide timely and accurate diagnostic information for patient care
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and safety protocols in all cardiac physiology procedures
- Maintain detailed patient records and documentation in accordance with HSE guidelines and regulatory requirements
- Participate in continuous professional development and training programs to stay current with cardiac physiology advances
- Support training and mentoring of junior staff and students as required
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Physiology or equivalent qualification in Cardiac Physiology
- Minimum 2 years experience in cardiac physiology in an acute hospital setting
- Proficiency in cardiac diagnostic equipment including ECG machines, echocardiography systems, and stress testing equipment
- Registration with CORU (Health and Social Care Professionals Council) or eligibility for registration
- Strong analytical and technical skills with attention to detail in diagnostic procedures
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced certification in echocardiography (BSE or equivalent accreditation)
- Experience with specialized cardiac procedures such as cardiac catheterization support or device clinics
- Knowledge of cardiac imaging software and digital reporting systems
- Previous experience in teaching or training healthcare professionals
