About the Role
The Care Assistant plays a vital role in supporting people with disabilities to live fulfilling, independent lives. Working under the supervision of the nursing and clinical team, you will assist service users in daily living activities, promote dignity and inclusion, and help maintain a safe and caring environment.
This role is part of the Disability Services Division, which delivers essential supports across Longford, Westmeath, Offaly, Laois, Kildare, and parts of Dublin South and Wicklow.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct personal care and support to individuals with disabilities.
- Assist with mobility, personal hygiene, nutrition, and daily living activities.
- Support the development and implementation of individual care plans.
- Foster independence and social participation in community settings.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with HSE policy.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality care.
- Uphold the rights, dignity, and privacy of each service user at all times.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Experience in patient or client care, ideally in a disability, residential, or community setting.
- Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate, person-centred support.
- Full driver’s licence and access to appropriate transport to perform the role.
- Fluent English communication and strong teamwork skills.
Preferred
- QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare Support or equivalent.
- Familiarity with HSE standards, safeguarding, and health and safety procedures.
- Experience supporting people with intellectual or physical disabilities.
