Join the HSE South West team as a Catering Assistant Cork at Mallow General Hospital. As a Catering Assistant Cork professional, you’ll be part of essential hospital operations ensuring patients and staff receive nutritious, well-prepared meals.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation and cooking in accordance with hygiene and safety standards
- Support meal service operations including patient meal delivery and staff catering
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen areas, equipment, and utensils
- Follow dietary requirements and special meal preparations as directed
- Assist with stock management and inventory control of food supplies
- Comply with HACCP guidelines and health and safety regulations
- Work collaboratively with catering team members and nursing staff
- Support special dietary needs and therapeutic meal requirements
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Secondary level education or equivalent work experience
- Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety principles
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Physical ability to lift and carry kitchen equipment and supplies
- Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in catering, food service, or healthcare support role
- Food Safety and HACCP certification
- Experience working in healthcare or institutional catering
- Basic culinary skills and food preparation knowledge
