About the Role
As a Catering Supervisor at University Hospital Kerry, you will play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality catering services within our busy hospital environment. You will be responsible for supervising catering operations, managing staff, and maintaining the highest standards of food safety and customer service. This Grade 4022 position reports to the Catering Manager and offers excellent opportunities for professional growth within the HSE’s comprehensive career framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily catering operations across multiple hospital departments and patient care areas
- Manage and mentor catering staff, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to health and safety protocols
- Monitor food quality standards and implement food safety procedures in accordance with HACCP guidelines
- Oversee inventory management including ordering, stock rotation, and waste minimization initiatives
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and hygiene regulations within the hospital environment
- Coordinate meal service for patients, staff, and visitors while maintaining nutritional and dietary requirements
- Implement cost control measures and assist in budget management for catering operations
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Leaving Certificate or equivalent educational qualification
- Minimum 3 years experience in catering supervision or food service management, preferably in healthcare settings
- Strong leadership and communication skills with demonstrated ability to manage teams effectively
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and HACCP principles
- Understanding of dietary requirements for healthcare environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal qualification in catering, hospitality management, or related field
- Previous healthcare experience in hospital or care facility environments
- Food safety certification or willingness to obtain relevant certifications
- Computer literacy with experience in inventory management systems
