Job Overview
The Chef 1 role at Áras Mhic Dara Community Nursing Unit involves preparing and delivering nutritious meals for residents while supporting safe and efficient kitchen operations. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and present meals in line with HSE nutritional and dietary guidelines
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and kitchen safety
- Support meal planning and food preparation for residents within the nursing unit
- Ensure compliance with HACCP and food safety regulations
- Monitor food storage, stock rotation, and kitchen inventory
- Work collaboratively with healthcare and support staff to meet residents’ dietary needs
- Assist in maintaining an efficient and organised catering environment
- Contribute positively to the wellbeing and care experience of residents
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Relevant experience working in a catering or chef role
- Ability to demonstrate depth and breadth of experience relevant to the position
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene procedures
- Strong organisational and teamwork skills
- Ability to work effectively in a healthcare or community care setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary will be aligned with HSE Chef 1 (Grade 451Y) pay scales. The role is offered on a permanent part-time basis with a 0.55 WTE contract.
