About the Role
The CEO will be responsible for the strategic leadership, governance, and performance of Gas Networks Ireland. This role requires visionary leadership to drive innovation in renewable gas, hydrogen, and energy transition, while maintaining operational excellence in gas distribution across Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the organisation, ensuring alignment with national energy and climate policy.
- Oversee the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of gas transmission and distribution services.
- Lead the transition of GNI towards renewable gas, hydrogen integration, and decarbonisation initiatives.
- Foster strong relationships with stakeholders including government, regulators, and industry partners.
- Drive a culture of accountability, innovation, and high performance within the organisation.
- Ensure financial sustainability and long-term resilience of the network.
- Act as the public face of Gas Networks Ireland, representing the company at national and international forums.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Proven track record of executive leadership in large-scale organisations.
- Significant experience in energy, utilities, or regulated industries.
- Strong financial, operational, and governance expertise.
- Demonstrated ability to lead strategic change and organisational transformation.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills.
Preferred
- Knowledge of Irish and EU energy policy and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience in renewables, hydrogen, or decarbonisation projects.
