Applications are invited for inclusion on a panel from which appointments may be made to the role of Clerk of Works (42‑month contract) with Sligo County Council.
This is a site‑focused role within the Capital Projects / Construction Oversight function, supporting the delivery and quality assurance of building and civil works across County Sligo.
About the Role
You will act as the Council’s on‑site representative, monitoring contractor performance, workmanship, materials and compliance with specifications, drawings, standards and safety. The role suits a construction professional with strong inspection, coordination and stakeholder skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect works for quality, specification and Building Regulations compliance.
- Record site progress, defects and remedial actions; maintain site diaries and photo records.
- Verify materials, certifications and test results; witness inspections.
- Monitor contractor programmes, phasing, access and health & safety adherence.
- Liaise with project managers, designers, contractors and utility providers; attend site meetings.
- Review drawings, RFIs, method statements and as‑built information.
- Assist with snagging, handover, commissioning and certification.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Relevant construction qualification (e.g., building, civil engineering, architecture/technician) and site supervision experience.
- Demonstrable knowledge of Irish Building Regulations, specifications, drawings and QA processes.
- Strong record‑keeping, communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across County Sligo.
Preferred
- Experience on public‑sector/civic projects and contract administration.
- Competence with digital site tools (e.g., snagging apps, document control, photo logs).
- Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and PSDP/PSCS interfaces.
