Job Overview
There is currently one temporary whole-time vacancy available within Maternity Services at Regional Hospital Mullingar. A panel may also be created from this campaign for future full-time or part-time specified purpose vacancies for Clinical Midwife Manager 1 positions.
The Clinical Midwife Manager 1 will provide professional and clinical leadership within the Special Baby Unit while supporting the delivery of safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care for mothers and newborns.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and operational support within the Special Baby Unit.
- Promote high standards of neonatal and maternity care in line with HSE policies and best practice guidelines.
- Support and supervise midwifery staff while encouraging professional development and continuous learning.
- Assist in the coordination of patient care and multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Ensure effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience in Midwifery relevant to the role.
- Strong clinical leadership and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational abilities.
- Experience working within acute maternity or neonatal care settings is desirable.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Commitment to patient-centred care and continuous service improvement.
