About the Role
Cork University Hospital (CUH), part of the HSE South West, is recruiting a Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (CNM1) to join the Endoscopy Department. This is a key leadership role for an experienced and motivated nurse who can support the delivery of high-quality patient care in a dynamic acute hospital environment.
The CNM1 will lead and support nursing teams within the Endoscopy Unit, ensuring compliance with national standards, infection prevention protocols, and best clinical practice. Working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues, the successful candidate will help drive excellence in patient outcomes and continuous professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage day-to-day clinical operations within the Endoscopy Unit.
- Provide supervision, mentorship, and clinical leadership to nursing and support staff.
- Ensure adherence to infection control, safety, and quality standards.
- Contribute to the implementation of HSE and hospital-wide care policies and procedures.
- Facilitate staff training, education, and performance management.
- Support audit, research, and continuous improvement initiatives within the unit.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Active registration on the General Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Minimum of 3 years post-registration experience, including relevant experience in an endoscopy or acute hospital setting.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Desirable
- Postgraduate qualification in management or a relevant clinical specialty.
- Experience in clinical governance or quality improvement.
