Cork University Hospital is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Manager 1 to lead our GC Medical Ward team. About the Role
We are looking for a dynamic Clinical Nurse Manager 1 to provide leadership and management for our GC Medical Ward at Cork University Hospital. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care while managing nursing staff and maintaining clinical standards within our busy medical ward environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage nursing staff within the GC Medical Ward ensuring optimal patient care delivery
- Coordinate daily ward operations including staff allocation, patient assessments, and care planning
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, procedures, and clinical governance standards
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including consultants, junior doctors, and allied health professionals
- Monitor and maintain quality standards for patient safety and infection prevention measures
- Participate in staff development, mentoring, and performance management activities
- Manage ward resources efficiently including equipment, supplies, and staffing levels
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Minimum 5 years post-registration nursing experience including medical ward experience
- Previous supervisory or management experience in an acute hospital setting
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical nursing care and clinical procedures
- Strong leadership and communication skills with ability to manage diverse teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate qualification in nursing management or related field
- Experience working within HSE acute hospital environments
- Additional training in clinical governance, quality improvement, or patient safety
- Demonstrated experience in staff development and training coordination
