Wexford General Hospital is recruiting a Clinical Nurse Manager 1 for its Paediatric Department. This permanent, whole-time position offers a senior nursing management opportunity within a busy acute hospital serving the south-east region of Ireland.
Role Overview
The Clinical Nurse Manager 1 will provide frontline nursing leadership within the Paediatric Department at Wexford General Hospital. The post holder will support the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care to children and their families, working within a multidisciplinary team environment under the direction of senior nursing management. This role combines direct clinical practice with supervisory and coordination responsibilities across the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and day-to-day management of nursing staff within the Paediatric Department.
- Ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and evidence-based nursing care to paediatric patients.
- Supervise, support, and develop nursing and healthcare assistant staff within the team.
- Participate in the rostering and deployment of nursing staff across the department.
- Act as a resource for clinical expertise and professional guidance within the paediatric setting.
- Liaise with multidisciplinary team members, families, and carers to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of nursing policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with professional, regulatory, and HSE standards.
- Support the ADON and senior management team in the operational running of Peri-op, Critical Care, and Paediatric Services.

Salary
This post is remunerated on the HSE Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (General) pay scale (Grade Code 2127). Based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026, the scale ranges from €57,780 to €68,046 per annum (8-point scale). Long Service Increments do not apply at this grade.

Wexford General Hospital is a model 3 acute hospital located in Wexford town, providing a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services to the population of County Wexford and the wider south-east region. The hospital operates under HSE Dublin and South East and is home to paediatric, peri-operative, and critical care services led by a dedicated senior nursing management team. Wexford town is commutable from across County Wexford and neighbouring counties, with good road and public transport links.
