About the Role
Mayo University Hospital (MUH) invites applications for the post of Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (Peri Operative Directorate). This permanent, full-time position offers an opportunity to play a key leadership role within the hospital’s surgical and peri-operative services.
As part of the HSE West and North West region, MUH provides acute and elective services to a wide catchment area. The successful candidate will demonstrate depth and breadth of clinical experience in peri-operative care, with strong leadership and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate nursing staff within the Peri Operative Directorate.
- Ensure safe, high-quality, and evidence-based patient care.
- Manage daily theatre operations and support multidisciplinary team collaboration.
- Oversee clinical audits, infection control practices, and staff development.
- Promote adherence to hospital policies, HSE standards, and best practice guidelines.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in theatre efficiency and patient outcomes.
- Supervise induction and mentorship of new nursing staff.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Registered General Nurse (RGN) with An Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann (NMBI).
- Demonstrated peri-operative clinical experience relevant to the role.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Desirable
- Postgraduate qualification in Peri-Operative Nursing, Management, or Clinical Leadership.
- Previous experience in staff supervision or ward management.
