About the Role
The Health Service Executive (HSE) is inviting applications for the position of Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (CNM2) – Endoscopy Triage at St. Luke’s General Hospital, Kilkenny.
This is a key clinical leadership role responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and effective triage of gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy referrals.
The successful candidate will play a central part in coordinating patient assessments, managing triage workflows, and ensuring that patients are assigned to the most clinically appropriate care pathway. This post aims to optimise use of endoscopy capacity and enhance patient outcomes through evidence-based practice and collaborative leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the triage of GI endoscopy referrals across the service.
- Ensure timely and accurate clinical assessment and prioritisation of patients.
- Collaborate closely with consultants, nursing staff, and administrative teams to streamline care pathways.
- Monitor and evaluate referral trends, service demand, and capacity utilisation.
- Maintain accurate documentation and data for service improvement and audit purposes.
- Promote a culture of patient safety, continuous improvement, and clinical excellence.
- Support staff development through supervision, mentoring, and professional guidance.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Registered General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Minimum of five years post-registration experience, including relevant endoscopy or gastroenterology nursing experience.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Desirable
- Postgraduate qualification in Endoscopy Nursing, Management, or a related discipline.
- Experience in service coordination, triage, or patient flow management.
- Proficiency in data reporting and quality improvement methodologies.
