About the Role
Cork University Hospital (CUH), under HSE South West, is seeking a Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (CNM2) to join the Kidney Supportive Care Service. This role offers the opportunity to lead nursing care in a specialist area integrating renal and palliative expertise. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of person-centred, evidence-based nursing care for patients with chronic kidney disease and those receiving renal supportive care.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and deliver specialist nursing care for kidney supportive care patients.
- Provide clinical leadership and mentorship to nursing and multidisciplinary staff.
- Manage staffing levels, rosters, and day-to-day operations in the unit.
- Support audit, research, and quality improvement initiatives within renal and palliative services.
- Collaborate with medical, allied health, and palliative teams to optimize patient outcomes.
- Maintain compliance with HSE standards, policies, and infection prevention protocols.
- Participate in education and training for nursing and allied health staff.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Registered General Nurse (RGN) with An Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann (NMBI).
- Minimum 5 years post-registration experience, with 2 years in a relevant specialty area.
- Proven experience in staff management or coordination.
- Demonstrated clinical leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
Preferred
- Postgraduate qualification in Nephrology, Palliative Care, or a related discipline.
- Experience in developing clinical protocols or quality initiatives.
- Familiarity with HSE electronic health systems and integrated care models.
