About the Role

Cork University Hospital (CUH), part of the HSE South West, is recruiting a Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (CNM2) for its Medical Oncology Unit. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse to lead and coordinate the delivery of high-quality oncology care in Ireland’s largest acute teaching hospital.

The CNM2 will manage a dedicated team of nurses and support staff, ensuring excellence in patient outcomes, compliance with national cancer control standards, and continuous professional development within the team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and direction within the Medical Oncology Unit.
  • Ensure delivery of safe, evidence-based nursing care to oncology patients.
  • Coordinate patient flow and multidisciplinary communication for optimal outcomes.
  • Promote professional practice and ongoing education among nursing staff.
  • Participate in audit, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Manage rosters, leave, and performance appraisals for assigned nursing staff.
  • Uphold HSE values, policies, and infection control standards at all times.

Required Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Minimum of five years post-registration experience, with at least two years in oncology or acute care.
  • Proven management and leadership skills.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualification in Oncology Nursing or Management.
  • Experience in leading service improvements or clinical governance projects.
