About the Role
Cork University Hospital (CUH), part of the HSE South West, is recruiting a Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (CNM2) for its Medical Oncology Unit. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse to lead and coordinate the delivery of high-quality oncology care in Ireland’s largest acute teaching hospital.
The CNM2 will manage a dedicated team of nurses and support staff, ensuring excellence in patient outcomes, compliance with national cancer control standards, and continuous professional development within the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and direction within the Medical Oncology Unit.
- Ensure delivery of safe, evidence-based nursing care to oncology patients.
- Coordinate patient flow and multidisciplinary communication for optimal outcomes.
- Promote professional practice and ongoing education among nursing staff.
- Participate in audit, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Manage rosters, leave, and performance appraisals for assigned nursing staff.
- Uphold HSE values, policies, and infection control standards at all times.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Registered General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Minimum of five years post-registration experience, with at least two years in oncology or acute care.
- Proven management and leadership skills.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
Desirable
- Postgraduate qualification in Oncology Nursing or Management.
- Experience in leading service improvements or clinical governance projects.
