A rewarding opportunity is now available for experienced nursing professionals seeking Clinical Nurse Specialist jobs in Donegal, Sligo, Cavan, or Louth. The PEACEPLUS Community Alcohol Detox+ programme is recruiting four Clinical Nurse Specialist (Community Detoxification) roles to support innovative cross-border community addiction and alcohol detoxification services within the Health Service Executive.
These specialist nursing positions offer the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in community healthcare by supporting individuals through alcohol detoxification pathways, promoting recovery-focused care, and strengthening integrated addiction services across the border region.
Job Overview
The PEACEPLUS Community Alcohol Detox+ initiative is designed to expand access to community-based alcohol detoxification services through specialist nursing leadership and multidisciplinary collaboration. Successful candidates will work closely with addiction services, primary care teams, and community stakeholders to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.
There are currently four whole-time specified purpose posts available initially until 31 December 2028. Posts are available across Donegal, Sligo, Cavan, and Louth, with base locations determined upon appointment. A panel may also be formed for future specified purpose vacancies of both whole-time and part-time duration.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist nursing care and clinical leadership within community alcohol detoxification services
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate evidence-based detoxification programmes for service users
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, addiction services, and community healthcare providers
- Support recovery-focused approaches and continuity of care for individuals accessing addiction services
- Promote patient safety, safeguarding, and best practice clinical governance standards
- Contribute to service development, education initiatives, and quality improvement projects
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and professional records
- Participate in cross-border healthcare collaboration initiatives under the PEACEPLUS programme
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Registered Nurse qualification with active registration maintained with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications and/or specialist experience in addiction services, community nursing, or detoxification care
- Strong clinical assessment and case management skills
- Excellent communication, leadership, and multidisciplinary collaboration abilities
- Experience delivering patient-centred care within community or addiction settings is highly desirable
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to integrated healthcare teams

Salary, Benefits and Working Hours
Salary: Competitive pay in line with HSE Clinical Nurse Specialist (General) Grade 2632 salary scales.
Contract Type: Specified Purpose Whole-time and Specified Purpose Part-time opportunities may arise from this recruitment campaign.
