HSE Dublin and North East is seeking an experienced Interim Principal Psychologist to join the Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT) service in the Dublin North region. This fixed-term opportunity offers experienced psychology professionals the chance to lead and support high-quality multidisciplinary disability services that positively impact children, young people, and families across the region.

This Principal Clinical Psychologist role is ideal for candidates with strong clinical leadership skills, experience in disability services, and a commitment to delivering evidence-based psychological care within community healthcare settings. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting service development, clinical governance, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Job Overview

The Interim Principal Psychologist will provide senior clinical leadership within the Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT) service operating across the HSE Dublin and North East Region. The position involves supporting psychological assessment, intervention planning, multidisciplinary collaboration, and service improvement initiatives for children and young people accessing disability services.

This is a fixed-term whole-time contract for 12 months. No recruitment panel will be formed from this campaign. Appointments will be offered based on order of merit on a take-it-or-leave-it basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide senior clinical psychology leadership within the Children’s Disability Network Team.
  • Deliver specialist psychological assessment and intervention services for children and families.
  • Support multidisciplinary team collaboration and integrated care planning.
  • Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and clinical governance initiatives.
  • Provide supervision, guidance, and support to psychology staff and trainees where appropriate.
  • Ensure evidence-based practice and compliance with HSE standards and policies.
  • Participate in service planning and operational management activities.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to reporting requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Qualification eligible for registration as a Psychologist with the Psychological Society of Ireland or CORU requirements where applicable.
  • Extensive postgraduate clinical psychology experience, including senior-level practice.
  • Experience working within disability services, child psychology, or multidisciplinary healthcare settings.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based clinical practice and service improvement.
  • Excellent report writing, assessment, and case management skills.
