Our Lady’s Hospital Navan is seeking applications for a permanent, whole-time Clinical Nurse Specialist (General) – Diabetes Service position. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced registered nurse to deliver specialist diabetes care, improve patient outcomes, and contribute to the ongoing development of diabetes services within HSE Dublin and North East.
Role Overview
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (General) Diabetes Service will provide expert clinical leadership, evidence-based nursing care, patient education, and multidisciplinary collaboration to support people living with diabetes. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving standards of care, promoting best practice, and supporting service development within the hospital.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver specialist nursing assessment, treatment and ongoing management for patients with diabetes.
- Provide expert clinical advice and support to patients, families and healthcare professionals.
- Develop and implement evidence-based care pathways and clinical guidelines.
- Promote patient education and self-management of diabetes.
- Work collaboratively with consultants, nursing colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives and service development.
- Support education, training and mentorship of nursing staff.
- Maintain professional standards in line with HSE policies and Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) requirements.
Requirements
- Be eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Meet the HSE eligibility requirements for appointment as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (General).
- Demonstrate appropriate post-registration clinical experience in diabetes nursing.
- Possess excellent communication, leadership and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
- Be committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.
Salary
€62,699 – €76,921 per annum (HSE Clinical Nurse Specialist (General) Grade 2632 salary scale, 11-point scale, plus Long Service Increment where applicable), based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}
