Clinical Nurse Specialist – Haematology – Limerick | HSE Mid West

The HSE Mid West is inviting applications for a Clinical Nurse Specialist (Haematology) to join the team in Limerick. This permanent, whole-time role offers an opportunity to lead evidence-based specialist nursing within a multidisciplinary environment, improving outcomes for patients with haematological conditions.

About the Role

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Haematology, you will provide expert clinical care, coordinate complex treatment pathways, and support patient education within the HSE Mid West Hospitals Group. The role demands advanced knowledge in haematology nursing, clinical leadership, and a commitment to innovation and continuous professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist nursing care and assessment for patients with haematological conditions.
  • Act as a clinical resource and liaison between multidisciplinary teams.
  • Lead and contribute to quality improvement initiatives and research projects.
  • Provide education and support to patients, families, and staff.
  • Participate in policy development, clinical audits, and evidence-based practice.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to service evaluation.
  • Promote a culture of safety, compassion, and excellence in patient care.

Required Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered General Nurse (RGN) with the NMBI.
  • Minimum of 5 years post-registration experience, including at least 2 in haematology or an acute care specialty.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Haematology Nursing or a related discipline (Level 8 or above).
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership and teaching experience.

Preferred

  • Master’s qualification in advanced nursing or clinical practice.
  • Experience in research, audit, or service development within specialist care.
