HSE South West is recruiting a Clinical Nurse Specialist for the Kerry Memory Assessment and Support Service (MASS), based at the McAuley Unit, Balloonagh, Tralee. About the Service
The Kerry Memory Assessment and Support Service forms part of the HSE South West region’s integrated care programme for older people, providing assessment, diagnosis, and ongoing support for individuals with memory impairment and dementia, working closely with the Integrated Care Programme for Older People (ICPOP).
Key Responsibilities

- Carrying out specialist nursing assessment, diagnosis support, and care planning for patients referred to the MASS
- Providing expert clinical advice, education, and support to patients and families managing memory difficulties and dementia
- Working as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside medical, allied health, and ICPOP colleagues
- Coordinating care pathways and onward referrals across primary, community, and acute services
- Contributing to service development, clinical audit, and continuing professional education within the speciality
Requirements and Qualifications

- Be a Registered Nurse on the relevant division of the Register held by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Have a minimum of five years’ post-registration experience, including relevant experience in the speciality area (dementia/memory care, older person services, or equivalent)
- Hold, or be working towards, a relevant post-registration qualification at level 8 or higher relevant to the speciality
- Demonstrate the clinical, leadership, and communication skills required for an advanced specialist nursing role
- Possess the health and character requirements for the post
Salary
€62,699 – €76,921 per annum (HSE Clinical Nurse Specialist (General) scale, grade code 2632, 10-point scale plus Long Service Increments), based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026. Long Service Increments are payable in addition to the maximum point of the scale for eligible staff but are not included in the headline range above.
