The hospital is also home to a Medical Academy affiliated with NUI Galway, providing clinical education for medical students.

The Role
We are currently recruiting for a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Neurology, with a focus on Headache Services. This is a permanent, whole-time position based at Sligo University Hospital. The successful candidate will play a key role in the management and care of patients with headache disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide specialist nursing care to patients with headache-related conditions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care.
• Promote health education and support for patients and families.
• Contribute to clinical audits, research, and service development in neurology care.

Requirements:

• Registered General Nurse with the NMBI.
• Relevant postgraduate qualification in Neurology or a related field (desirable).
• Experience in neurology or headache management is advantageous.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Additional Information:

• The post holder may be required to work in other service areas as needed.
• A panel may be formed to fill future permanent or temporary roles within SUH.
