About the Role

Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) is seeking a dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Paediatric Neurology to join our multidisciplinary team. This pivotal role focuses on delivering expert nursing care to children under 16 with neurological conditions, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based support throughout their healthcare journey.

Key Responsibilities

• Clinical Care: Provide specialised nursing services for children requiring neurology support, encompassing assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of care.
• Coordination: Manage and coordinate investigations, treatments, therapies, and follow-ups in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
• Education & Support: Offer information, education, and counselling to children and their families, promoting self-management strategies and health promotion.
• Advocacy: Act as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare professionals, ensuring that the child’s and family’s values and decisions are respected and represented.
• Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development, contributing to education programmes, mentorship, and research initiatives within the neurology specialty.

Essential Criteria

• Registered nurse on the active Register of Nurses and Midwives held by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
• Registered in the Children’s Nursing division with NMBI or, in exceptional cases, another division as assessed individually.
• Minimum of 1 year post-registration full-time experience in the relevant division.
• At least 1 year of full-time experience in paediatric neurology nursing.
• Successful completion of a post-registration programme of study at QQI Level 9 or higher, relevant to neurology care, or evidence of equivalent credits.
• Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development in the neurology specialty.
