About the Role

As Clinical Skills Facilitator – Paediatrics at Letterkenny University Hospital, you will play a crucial role in developing and enhancing clinical skills within our paediatric nursing team. This Clinical Nurse Manager 2 position involves facilitating clinical education programs, supporting nursing staff development, and ensuring the highest standards of paediatric care delivery across our specialized children’s services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive clinical skills training programs specifically designed for paediatric nursing staff and healthcare professionals
  • Facilitate clinical education sessions covering advanced paediatric assessment techniques, specialized procedures, and evidence-based practice methodologies
  • Coordinate clinical skills training for nursing students, newly qualified nurses, and experienced staff transitioning to paediatric specialties
  • Assess and evaluate competency levels of nursing staff in paediatric clinical skills and provide targeted support for skill development
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to identify learning needs and develop appropriate educational interventions for optimal patient outcomes
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current paediatric nursing practices, guidelines, and technological advances in children’s healthcare
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to nursing staff, promoting professional development and career advancement in paediatric nursing specialties

Required Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) as a Registered General Nurse (RGN) or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years post-registration experience with substantial experience in paediatric nursing and specialized children’s healthcare settings
  • Clinical expertise in paediatric assessment, specialized procedures, and family-centered care approaches
  • Educational qualifications in clinical instruction, nursing education, or related field (minimum diploma level)
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical skills facilitation, training delivery, and competency assessment methodologies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced qualification in paediatric nursing, clinical education, or specialized children’s healthcare (degree level preferred)
  • Experience in curriculum development and educational program design for healthcare professionals
  • Leadership experience in clinical nursing management or educational coordination roles
  • Knowledge of simulation-based learning and innovative clinical skills training methodologies
