About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Specialist Dietitian Cardio Metabolic Galway to join our Integrated Care Programme for Chronic Disease team. This permanent wholetime position offers an exciting opportunity to provide expert dietary management for patients with complex cardio-metabolic conditions in the West Galway and City Hub location.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced clinical dietetic assessment and management for patients with cardio-metabolic chronic diseases
- Lead evidence-based nutritional interventions for diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and metabolic syndrome
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including cardiologists, endocrinologists, and diabetes specialists
- Develop and implement specialized care pathways for chronic disease management
- Supervise and mentor junior dietetic staff and students
- Conduct clinical research and contribute to service development initiatives
- Provide expert consultation to healthcare professionals across the integrated care network
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent recognized qualification
- Registration with CORU (Health & Social Care Professionals Council)
- Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in clinical dietetics
- Demonstrated expertise in cardio-metabolic chronic disease management
- Experience in diabetes care, cardiovascular nutrition, and weight management
- Strong clinical assessment and care planning skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field
- Postgraduate qualification in diabetes care or cardiovascular health
- Previous experience in integrated chronic disease programmes
- Research experience and publication record
- Leadership and team management experience
- Irish language skills (an advantage)
