About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Clinical Specialist Dietitian to join our palliative care team in Sligo. This Grade 3715 position requires a dedicated professional with proven expertise in palliative care dietetics, clinical audit, and quality improvement initiatives. You’ll work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering compassionate, evidence-based nutritional care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized dietetic assessment and intervention for patients receiving palliative care services
- Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Conduct clinical audits and participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery
- Lead practice development activities and contribute to policy development within the dietetic service
- Provide education and training to healthcare professionals, patients, and families on nutritional aspects of palliative care
- Engage in research activities and evidence-based practice development relevant to palliative care nutrition
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to service planning and evaluation
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent qualification recognized by CORU
- Current registration with CORU as a Dietitian
- Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience in providing dietetic care to palliative care patients
- Proven experience in continuous professional development relevant to palliative care specialization
- Experience in clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives, practice development, teaching and research
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification in relevant specialized area
- Previous experience working within HSE or similar healthcare organization
- Experience in multidisciplinary team working in palliative care settings
- Knowledge of current best practice guidelines in palliative care nutrition
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, and healthcare teams
