Job Overview
HSE West and North West is seeking a dedicated Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our mental health services team in Sligo/Leitrim. This permanent, full-time position offers an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young people’s mental health across the beautiful counties of Sligo and Leitrim in Ireland.
As part of our comprehensive mental health services, you’ll work within a multidisciplinary team delivering specialist psychiatric care to children and adolescents throughout the region. Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment and treatment for children and adolescents
- Develop and implement individualised treatment plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Conduct risk assessments and manage complex mental health presentations
- Deliver crisis intervention services when required
- Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and trainees
Service Development
- Contribute to the development and improvement of child and adolescent mental health services in Sligo/Leitrim
- Participate in service planning and quality improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with community partners, schools, and other healthcare providers
- Engage in research and evidence-based practice development
Professional Development
- Maintain continuous professional development and stay current with best practices
- Participate in peer review and audit activities
- Contribute to teaching and training programmes
- Attend relevant conferences and professional meetings
Requirements & Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
- Full registration with the Medical Council of Ireland
- Inclusion on the Specialist Register in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
- Completion of higher specialist training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications in psychiatry
Essential Experience
- Demonstrated clinical experience in child and adolescent psychiatry
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage complex caseloads
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience in the Irish healthcare system
- Additional training in specific therapeutic modalities
- Research experience and publications in child and adolescent psychiatry
- Teaching and supervision experience
