Join the Health Service Executive (HSE) West and North West to make a lasting difference in the lives of children and young people across Donegal. This is a Consultant-level permanent position within the Mental Health Services (MHS) Donegal, offering a leadership opportunity in multidisciplinary psychiatric care.
About the Role
As a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, you will provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for children and adolescents with mental health disorders. You will lead a clinical team, support evidence-based interventions, and contribute to service development across the HSE West and North West region.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality psychiatric assessment and treatment to children and adolescents.
- Provide leadership and clinical governance to a multidisciplinary team.
- Collaborate with primary care, schools, and community mental health teams.
- Participate in clinical audits, supervision, and teaching activities.
- Contribute to service planning, quality improvement, and policy development.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and research initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Full registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Irish Medical Council (Specialist Division, Psychiatry).
- Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent.
- Completed training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
- Minimum of seven years’ postgraduate experience, including at least five in psychiatry.
Preferred
- Experience working within multidisciplinary community settings.
- Proven leadership or management experience in a healthcare environment.
- Involvement in teaching, training, or research.

- Competitive salary aligned with the HSE Consolidated Consultant Salary Scales (August 2025):
