Job Overview

This full-time Consultant Otolaryngologist role offers an exceptional opportunity to lead ENT services across two prominent Irish hospitals. Working under the Public Only Consultants’ Contract 2023, you’ll split your time between Sligo University Hospital (25 hours per week) and Letterkenny University Hospital (12 hours per week), serving the diverse population of Sligo, Leitrim, West Cavan, and South Donegal.

The North West Otolaryngology/ENT Regional Service is a well-established department based at Sligo University Hospital, providing comprehensive ENT services to the entire North West population of Ireland. You’ll join a dedicated team of 4 WTE Consultants delivering world-class patient care.

Key Responsibilities

As a Consultant Otolaryngologist with HSE Ireland, your primary responsibilities will include:

• Providing specialist ENT services at Sligo University Hospital and outreach services at Letterkenny University Hospital
• Delivering comprehensive otolaryngology care including outpatient clinics, day cases, and inpatient procedures
• Alternating with other Consultants in the Department and providing cover during short-term absences
• Attending emergency cases as required across both hospital sites
• Contributing to the HSE’s National Clinical Programmes and supporting performance outcomes
• Participating in the training and development of junior medical staff
• Maintaining clinical excellence in line with national health policy requirements

Requirements & Qualifications

To be considered for this ENT Consultant position in Ireland, candidates must possess:

• Medical Council of Ireland registration or eligibility for registration
• Specialist registration in Otolaryngology/ENT with relevant professional body
• Extensive experience in otolaryngology/ENT surgery and clinical practice
• Strong clinical leadership and decision-making capabilities
• Commitment to patient safety and quality improvement initiatives
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment
• Irish or EU work authorization (or eligibility to obtain)
• Willingness to reside convenient to Sligo University Hospital
