Tesco Ireland is hiring a Customer Assistant on a permanent, part-time basis (25–30 hours per week) at its store in Carrick-on-Shannon, County Leitrim. This is a customer-facing retail role suited to reliable, friendly individuals who take pride in delivering great service.

About the Role

Tesco operates 170 stores nationwide and employs over 13,000 people across Ireland. As a Customer Assistant, you will play a key part in the day-to-day running of the store — putting the customer first, keeping the shop floor well-presented, and ensuring products and services are available at all times. While you will have a core role, you may also be asked to support colleagues in other departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Always put the customer first and consider them in everything you do.
  • Get to know your customers and serve them with pride.
  • Help to ensure products and services are available for customers at all times.
  • Handle all products with care to maintain quality and ensure they reach the customer in the best condition.
  • Keep the shop floor and back areas clean and tidy at all times.
  • Follow department routines and processes, using the training you receive.
  • Follow all company policies and adhere to Health and Safety routines.
  • Support colleagues by helping in other departments when required.

Requirements

  • Able to give great, natural customer service — proactively smiling, greeting, acknowledging and helping customers.
  • Works hard for customers, your team and your department.
  • Able to prioritise to ensure everything you do is right for customers.
  • Adaptable and resilient to meet the ever-changing demands of the business.
  • Able to follow instructions, whether verbal or written.
  • Reliable and a good timekeeper.
  • Smart and tidy in appearance at all times.
