A senior Director of the Nursing & Midwifery Planning & Development Unit (NMPDU) vacancy has arisen with the HSE Midlands, based at Midland Regional Hospital Campus, Tullamore, Co. Offaly. This is a high-impact leadership role within the Office of the Nursing and Midwifery Services Director, shaping nursing and midwifery practice and development across the Midlands region.
Role Overview
The Director of the NMPDU provides strategic and professional leadership to advance nursing and midwifery practice, education, and workforce development across the HSE Midlands. Working within the Office of the Nursing and Midwifery Services Director, the post-holder drives quality improvement and professional standards across a diverse range of services, supporting frontline nurses and midwives to deliver the highest standard of patient care.

Salary
€92,831 – €108,428 per annum (HSE Director, Nursing & Midwifery Planning & Development scale, 6-point scale), based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026. There are no Long Service Increments on this grade.
Location
There is currently one whole-time permanent vacancy based at the NMPDU Midlands, 1st Floor Scott Building, Midland Regional Hospital Campus, Tullamore, Co. Offaly. The Area Director of Nursing and Midwifery Planning and Development is open to engagement regarding the expected level of on-site attendance, in the context of the role’s requirements and the HSE’s Blended Working Policy.
Contract Type
Permanent Whole-time, Permanent Part-time, Specified Purpose Whole-time, and Specified Purpose Part-time vacancies may be filled from this campaign. A panel will be formed for the Office of Nursing and Midwifery Services Director, NMPDU Midlands, from which current and future vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled.
