About the role
Working as part of the General Support team, you’ll deliver day-to-day cleaning, housekeeping and support services across clinical and non-clinical areas. You’ll follow infection prevention and control procedures to protect patients, visitors and staff, and ensure areas are prepared and presented to HSE standards.
Responsibilities
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness across wards, clinics, public areas and offices in line with HSE protocols.
- Apply infection prevention controls (e.g., correct chemical use, colour-coding, terminal cleans, hand hygiene support).
- Manage waste and laundry safely, including segregation, collection and transfer according to policy.
- Replenish supplies (soap, towels, PPE, consumables) and report stock or equipment needs.
- Operate cleaning equipment (trolleys, scrubbers, buffers) safely and complete routine checks.
- Record tasks and report issues (spills, hazards, maintenance) promptly to supervisors.
- Collaborate with clinical and facilities teams, providing responsive support to service needs.
Qualifications
Essential
- Experience in domestic/cleaning or facilities support in healthcare, hospitality, or similar.
- Awareness of infection prevention and control and safe chemical handling.
- Ability to perform physical duties, follow schedules, and work to set standards.
- Good communication, teamwork, and attention to detail.
- Eligibility to work in Ireland and meet HSE pre-employment checks.
Preferred
- Experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.
- Manual Handling and Infection Control training/certificates.
- Familiarity with HSE cleaning standards and color-coding systems.
- Basic IT/record-keeping for task logs and compliance checks.
