About the Role
The HSE is seeking a dedicated Advanced Nurse Practitioner Candidate to join our Mental Health Services team in Cavan and Monaghan. This permanent position offers a structured pathway to achieving full Advanced Nurse Practitioner status while delivering specialized mental health care. You’ll work within a supportive multidisciplinary team environment focused on evidence-based practice and patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced nursing assessment and intervention for service users with mental health needs
- Develop and implement evidence-based care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments using advanced clinical skills and diagnostic reasoning
- Deliver therapeutic interventions including talking therapies and psychological support to service users
- Participate in clinical supervision and professional development activities to progress toward full ANP qualification
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals in care delivery
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to quality improvement initiatives within Mental Health Services
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Minimum 5 years post-registration experience with substantial experience in mental health nursing
- Evidence of enrolment or acceptance onto an approved Advanced Nurse Practitioner Master’s degree programme
- Demonstrated clinical expertise in mental health assessment and therapeutic interventions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with service users experiencing mental health challenges
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate qualification in mental health nursing or related field
- Experience delivering evidence-based psychological interventions or talking therapies
- Knowledge of current mental health legislation and recovery-oriented practice frameworks
- Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary mental health teams
