About the Role

As an Assessment of Need Officer (Grade 6001), you will conduct and coordinate high-quality assessments of need for children under the Disability Act 2005. Working as part of the HSE Dublin and North East team covering North Dublin, Meath, Louth, Cavan, and Monaghan, you will play a crucial role in identifying children’s needs and ensuring appropriate service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of need for children with disabilities in accordance with the Disability Act 2005
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary assessment processes ensuring timely and accurate completion
  • Prepare detailed assessment reports identifying children’s health and education needs
  • Liaise with families, healthcare professionals, and educational providers throughout the assessment process
  • Maintain accurate records and databases in compliance with HSE policies and data protection requirements
  • Collaborate with Children’s Disability Network Teams to ensure seamless service delivery
  • Provide expert advice and support to families navigating the assessment process

Required Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

  • Relevant third-level qualification in health or social care discipline
  • Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience in conducting and/or coordinating high-quality assessments of need
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Disability Act 2005 and assessment procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with families and professionals
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Access to appropriate transport to fulfill role requirements across County Meath

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working within Children’s Disability Network Teams
  • Knowledge of HSE policies and procedures relating to disability services
  • Previous experience in case management or service coordination
  • Understanding of multi-disciplinary team working in disability services

Salary Information: Detailed salary scales for Assessment of Need Officer (Grade 6001) are available in the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales document. This position falls under the Patient and Client Care category with 11 incremental points plus Long Service Increments (LSIs).
