The Health Service Executive is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Director of Nursing Mental Health (Reference: TT1426). This national specified purpose role supports the Community Care Record Programme and plays a key leadership role in advancing mental health nursing services across Ireland.
This Assistant Director of Nursing Mental Health opportunity is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and offers the chance to contribute to strategic transformation within Ireland’s public health service.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior nursing leadership within the Community Care Record Programme for Mental Health services.
- Support the implementation of national digital transformation initiatives in community mental health settings.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient-centred care delivery.
- Contribute to governance, quality improvement, and clinical safety frameworks.
- Lead service planning, development, and performance monitoring initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Support change management and workforce engagement during system implementation.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered as a Psychiatric Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Significant senior-level experience in mental health nursing leadership.
- Demonstrated experience in service development, change management, or digital health transformation.
- Strong knowledge of governance, risk management, and quality assurance processes.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Relevant postgraduate qualification in nursing, healthcare management, or a related field (desirable).
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
- Salary Scale: Assistant Director of Nursing, Mental Health Services (Grade Code 2542) in line with February 2026 consolidated HSE pay scales.
- Salary range (effective 1 February 2026): €73,758 – €89,004 per annum (incremental scale).
