The Assistant National Director, Head of Corporate Governance is a senior leadership opportunity within HSE South West, based in Cork. This high-impact role is responsible for ensuring full compliance with the HSE Code of Governance and strengthening governance frameworks across the region.
Reporting within the Office of the Regional Executive Officer, you will play a critical role in embedding transparency, accountability, participation, integrity and capability in service delivery across Cork and Kerry.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and oversee corporate governance strategy across HSE South West
• Ensure compliance with the HSE Code of Governance and national governance standards
• Provide expert advice to the Regional Executive Officer and senior leadership team
• Strengthen risk management, audit, and internal control frameworks
• Promote a culture of transparency, accountability and ethical leadership
• Oversee reporting structures and governance performance metrics
• Support board-level and executive-level governance processes
• Drive continuous improvement in governance capability across services
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Significant senior management experience within large, complex organisations
• Proven experience in corporate governance, compliance and regulatory frameworks
• Strong knowledge of public sector governance standards
• Demonstrated leadership and strategic planning capability
• Experience working with executive leadership teams and oversight bodies
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills
• Relevant third-level qualification (essential)
• Postgraduate qualification in governance, law, business or related discipline (desirable)

Salary: In line with National Director – Assistant (Services) 0509 consolidated HSE pay scale (effective 1 August 2025)
