We are currently seeking a dedicated Basic Grade Radiographer for our Medical Imaging Department at Athlone Injury Unit in Clonbrusk Primary Care Centre, Athlone. About the Role
We are looking for a qualified Radiographer to join our Medical Imaging team at Athlone Injury Unit, providing essential diagnostic imaging services to patients in the Offaly region. You will work as part of a dedicated healthcare team, operating advanced imaging equipment and delivering high-quality radiographic services. This permanent wholetime position reports to the Radiography Service Manager III and offers excellent opportunities for professional development in medical imaging.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic imaging procedures using X-ray equipment and other radiographic technology to produce high-quality diagnostic images
- Operate and maintain medical imaging equipment ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety standards and radiation protection protocols
- Provide direct patient care during radiographic procedures, ensuring patient comfort, safety, and dignity throughout the imaging process
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams including doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive patient care
- Maintain accurate patient records and imaging documentation in accordance with HSE protocols and quality assurance standards
- Ensure compliance with radiation safety regulations and implement appropriate protection measures for patients, staff, and visitors
- Participate in quality assurance programs and continuous professional development activities to maintain high standards of medical imaging services
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Radiography or equivalent qualification recognized by CORU (Health and Social Care Professionals Council)
- CORU registration as a Radiographer with current professional registration maintained
- Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience in Radiography as relevant to injury unit and primary care imaging
- Strong technical skills in operating digital X-ray systems and medical imaging equipment
- Excellent communication skills with ability to interact professionally with patients, families, and healthcare colleagues
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in injury unit or emergency imaging with knowledge of trauma and musculoskeletal imaging
- Additional imaging modalities experience such as fluoroscopy or specialized imaging techniques
- Quality assurance and radiation protection certification or additional training
- Continuous professional development participation and commitment to lifelong learning in medical imaging
