Job Overview

The Candidate Advanced Nurse Practitioner (CANP) / Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) Ambulatory Gynae role focuses on delivering expert clinical care, assessment, treatment planning, and patient management within ambulatory gynaecology services at Sligo University Hospital. The successful candidate will work within an advanced nursing framework supporting innovation, evidence-based practice, and continuous service improvement.

This position is available on both Permanent Wholetime and Specified Purpose Wholetime contracts within the HSE West and North West region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver advanced nursing care within ambulatory gynaecology services.
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage patients in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Support evidence-based clinical practice and service development initiatives.
  • Provide patient education, advocacy, and specialist advice.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and professional standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement, audit, and governance activities.
  • Promote best practice in women’s health and ambulatory care pathways.
  • Contribute to mentoring, education, and professional development within the nursing team.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Eligibility to work as a Candidate Advanced Nurse Practitioner or Advanced Nurse Practitioner.
  • Relevant clinical experience in gynaecology or women’s health services.
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and multidisciplinary collaboration abilities.
  • Commitment to patient-centred care and continuous professional development.
