Job Overview

The Candidate Clinical Nurse Specialist Dublin position in Metabolic Services at Children’s Health Ireland offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse to advance their specialist career in paediatric care. Working at Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (CNM 1) grade, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred metabolic care within a leading national paediatric service.

This permanent part-time role is ideal for a motivated nurse seeking to develop specialist expertise while contributing to service innovation, multidisciplinary collaboration, and improved patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist nursing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for children with metabolic conditions.
  • Support the development of evidence-based clinical pathways and standards of care.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated service delivery.
  • Deliver education and support to patients, families and healthcare staff.
  • Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement and service development initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with professional and regulatory standards.
  • Promote best practice in infection prevention, medication management and safeguarding.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Registered General Nurse on the active register maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Minimum of three years’ post-registration experience, with relevant paediatric or specialist experience desirable.
  • Demonstrated interest in metabolic or specialist paediatric services.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Strong clinical decision-making and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
