Cork University Hospital (CUH) is seeking an experienced and dedicated nurse for the position of Clinical Nurse Manager 2 – Clinical Skills Facilitator in the Coronary Care Intensive Care Unit (CICU). This is a permanent wholetime position based in Wilton, Cork, offering an excellent opportunity to lead clinical education and skills development in a specialized cardiac care environment.
About the Role
This Clinical Nurse Manager 2 position combines clinical leadership with education and skills facilitation in the CICU. You will play a vital role in coordinating clinical skills training, supporting nursing staff development, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based cardiac care. The post holder will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to enhance clinical practice and patient outcomes in the coronary care setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate clinical skills training and education programs for nursing staff within the CICU
- Facilitate the integration of evidence-based practice and clinical guidelines in coronary care delivery
- Support and mentor nursing staff in developing advanced cardiac care competencies and skills
- Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Nursing and multidisciplinary team to maintain high standards of patient care
- Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives, and patient safety programs specific to cardiac care
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and protocols for the CICU
- Assist in the management of human resources, including staff allocation, performance management, and roster coordination
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Registration on the General or Psychiatric division of the Register maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Minimum of 7 years post-registration experience as a Registered Nurse
- Significant recent experience working in a coronary care or cardiac intensive care environment
- Evidence of relevant post-registration education in cardiac care, critical care, or related specialty
- Demonstrated leadership, management, and clinical skills facilitation abilities
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Commitment to continuing professional development and evidence-based practice
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-registration qualification in Cardiac Care, Critical Care, or Intensive Care Nursing
- Experience in clinical education, preceptorship, or training coordination roles
- Postgraduate qualification in Nursing, Healthcare Management, or Education
- Experience with clinical audit, quality improvement projects, or research in cardiac care
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) or equivalent emergency cardiac care certification
