We are seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Manager 2 to join our Specialist Spinal Service at Galway University Hospitals. About the Role
As Clinical Nurse Manager 2 in our Specialist Spinal Service, you will provide clinical leadership and management within this highly specialized unit at Galway University Hospitals. This senior nursing role combines clinical expertise in spinal care with team management responsibilities, ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care for individuals with complex spinal conditions and orthopaedic needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the nursing team within the Specialist Spinal Service, ensuring optimal patient care delivery
- Develop and implement evidence-based clinical protocols specific to spinal care and orthopaedic surgery patients
- Coordinate patient care from admission through discharge, working closely with multidisciplinary spinal care teams
- Mentor and support junior nursing staff in developing specialized spinal nursing skills and competencies
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, clinical standards, and regulatory requirements for specialized services
- Manage resources effectively including staff scheduling, equipment allocation, and budget oversight for the unit
- Collaborate with consultants, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Minimum 5 years post-registration nursing experience with demonstrated progression
- Significant experience in Spinal services, Orthopaedic Surgery, or related specialized healthcare area
- Clinical Nurse Manager 1 experience or equivalent senior nursing role
- Leadership and management experience in a clinical healthcare setting
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate qualification in nursing, healthcare management, or related field
- Specialized training in spinal care, orthopaedic nursing, or rehabilitation
- Experience with quality improvement initiatives and clinical audit processes
- Knowledge of HSE policies and procedures for specialized services
