University Hospital Waterford is seeking a highly experienced Clinical Nurse Manager 3 to lead within the Paediatric & Medical Directorate. This senior nursing leadership role is central to delivering safe, high-quality patient care while supporting service integration across clinical teams.
This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished nurse leader to shape service delivery in a major acute hospital within the HSE Dublin and South East region.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic nursing leadership within the Paediatric & Medical Directorate.
- Support the Director of Nursing in delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred care.
- Lead clinical governance, quality improvement, and risk management initiatives.
- Manage staffing, workforce planning, and performance development.
- Ensure compliance with national HSE policies and professional standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance service integration.
- Oversee budgetary and resource management within the assigned service area.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registration as a General Nurse on the live register maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Minimum years of relevant senior nursing experience as outlined in the official Job Specification.
- Demonstrated leadership and people management experience.
- Proven experience in clinical governance and service development.
- Strong communication, organisational, and decision-making skills.
- Postgraduate qualification in nursing, management, or a related discipline (desirable).

Salary is aligned with the HSE Clinical Nurse Manager 3 (233X) consolidated pay scale effective 1 August 2025 .
